12 Artists: Monique Kleinhans

Hello all! My name is Monique Kleinhans and I'm the 12th Elf in our 12 Artists of Christmas this year.
My work at the gallery is made mostly of fibers and fabric. I combine traditional quilting with art techniques to create both pictorial and abstract pieces that can hang on your wall, dress your table or even wrap you up in a warm hug while your read in your favorite chair or are nestled all snug in your bed. Always looking for ways to use each and every ounce of fabric and accoutrements, I also make quilted greeting cards and Christmas ornaments that are miniature thread paintings placed on old wooden spools.
My love for working in the medium as well as experimenting within the craft, came directly from one of the most wonderful people on this planet....My Mother! She is still one of my favorite people to experiment new ideas or techniques with and an inspiration to always keep learning and dreaming.
You'll find me at the gallery tomorrow morning, or if you're not able to swing by, you can always visit me at my website: www.ladybugscabin.com
I hope you have a very Merry Christmas, wonderful holidays, and a New Year full of art!

Call for Local Artists!

We are currently looking for a local artist interested in showing their work year round in our art gallery collective located in downtown Kalispell. Interested artists should submit either photos, an example of their work, webpage address and contact information to be considered for the jury in process. As we strive to have a good balance and blend of different art available in the gallery we are not accepting jewelry artists at this time.

The gallery takes no commission from your sales! Instead, member artists are required to work 2 to 3 days a month showing and selling art in the gallery as well as pay rent for your space. (Currently $50 a month). We also meet once a month to go over business, advertising opportunities and to plan special events.

Paint Metal & Mud is a cooperative that features twelve of the Flathead Valley's finest artists. The gallery is located in downtown Kalispell, in the heart of northwest Montana.

PM&M is northwest Montana's only art gallery that is managed entirely by local artists -- not by some salesman. Stop in often and meet the artists, and learn about art from the people who created it! We are located in the historic Kalispell Grand Hotel, just half a block off Main Street.

Share Some Love! (and art!)

We have a lot of love to share at Paint Metal & Mud.
Love of our beautiful state of Montana.
Love of treasured natural vistas clean air and water.
Love for the support of our community (both local and global)
and of course love of fine art!

We hope that you'll come in to enjoy some of this love with us.
If you're in town tonight, stop by between 5 and 7pm
and you'll get to sample some 'lovely' little hand made chocolate pecan hearts
as we celebrate the Chocolate Affair in downtown Kalispell.
Visit a number of our neighbor businesses tonight too and you
can enter to win a gift certificate to use at a number of
great stores (including Paint Metal & Mud!)

What's not to love?

Happy New Year! and New Guest Artist!

We hope you are all staying warm and comfy in this chilly start to the New Year!  The gallery remains toasty and full of art that is sure to bring you comfort!
No automatic alt text available.

Need a new calendar to keep track of the days to come? Grab one of John Ashley's Glacier Park After Dark calendars that are not only full of his beautiful (and award winning) night time photography but also includes interesting scientific facts, details on events through the year that you might want to take a peak at!  (Did you know there is going to be a solar eclipse in August this year?!)

If you're looking to keep yourself warm in style, pour some cocoa or your favorite hot drink into one of Cheryl's or Joanna's beautiful mugs!

Or if wrap yourself up in a beautiful hand made quilt from Monique.  Who says that art can't also be functional!

While you're visiting be sure to check out our newest Guest Artist: Ron Kelly

Ron developed this decorative and pictorial mosaic style by laying precious and exotic materials into or onto a ground-work of solid wood. the intarsia wood decoration method dates back to the fifteenth century Germany and Italy, where the ancient art of intarsia was first used to create beautiful works of art from wood, inspiring both marquetry and inlay. Ron combines these past methods of art design with wood color and grain to produce the desired effect, adding a three dimensional element to each of his wildlife creations. Each art piece is an original design using color, grain of wood and style to create a unique wood masterpiece.
